Every language is unique in its history, grammar and even more so – in its sound. While French, for instance, is universally be agreed to be the language of love because of the way it soothes the ear, there are other languages – like German – who might make even some of the most beautiful things sound a bit… well, rough.
The Copy Cat Channel on Youtube posted a hilarious comparison of what same words sound like in different languages. Besides the different words, the expressions on the speakers’ faces and the way they convey the word with their body language is priceless. As you might’ve guessed, German does stand out quite a bit!
According to Know Your Meme, the meme originated with the Italian Facebook group Differenze Linguistiche in 2012. The first image example presented different ways to say “I love you” in Italian, English, French, Spanish and with emphasis on the rather harsh-sounding German translation “Ich Liebe Dich.”
