People have been fascinated with slow motion for about as long as it‘s been around, but the Super Frog Saves Tokyo (SFST) video production group out of Seattle was one of the first to introduce it to a business normally associated with photography – weddings.
At Quang and Ellie’s wedding, SFST set up a slow-mo photo booth equipped with a RED Epic camera (which go for about $20,000 and up) and traded the slow-motion bullets, jello and water balloons we‘re used to for kisses, bubbles and silly string – and it came out great. With just four LED lights and a white backdrop in the booth, all they had to do was calibrate their gear to shoot at 160 frames per second and get the wedding guests to let loose and have fun. As SFST pointed out, “In the beginning people were timid, but as [we] showed them takes they began to understand what we were doing. Also it was a wedding with an open bar. The video is edited (mostly) chronologically so you can see people get progressively less inhibited as the night went on.”
