Japanese Reinvent The Boring Rubber Band With A Cute Twist

Japanese mizuhiki, or decorative knot-tying, has made the leap to rubber. Mizuhikiband, developed over two years and featured in the 2013 Kokuyo Design Awards, was designed by Yu Aso. The aim was to make the use of this art from foreigner-friendly.

The Mizuhikiband will come in packages of seven with four colors and will retail for 460 Yen sometime in October. This particular knot is called “Hanamusubi,” a butterfly knot for reoccurring celebrations such as birthdays.
