Even if the topic seems sad, and grim, it isn’t. We want to keep alive the stories of our families, we want to pass the stories of our grandparents and great-grandparents to our children and great-grandchildren. Because also the simplest stories are important and when someone dies his stories fade away. So we’ve created Rest In Memory.
Rest In Memory is made of a simple marble tile with an NFC tag and a QR code that links to a web based memorial. The user uploads photos and stories to an online storage and places the tile on the gravestone. The tile can be accessed only in front of the graveyard with a smartphone, so it’s not a social network, you can’t browse the profiles at home. To improve privacy, the tile can also be set with a private mode with a security question, whose answer can only be known by the members of the family.
If you don’t set the private mode the tile is open, and in this way every gravestone can tell you a story, like a book, and a cemetery could become a library. Common stories are important and, often, are not so normal and it would be a shame to lose them.
Rest In Memory is already available for purchase from Indiegogo.
