Meet Terry Fan, an unusual persona and a brilliant artist whose works are a product of an imagination gone wild. Terry’s Victorian Wars series is a crazy re-imagining of Star Wars characters dressed in turn-of-the-century fashions. It’s a departure from the artist’s usual work, which is much more varied and often inspired by nautical themes, such as those in his Songs of the Sea gallery.
Most of Terry’s works begin as hand-drawn illustrations done with either pen-and-ink, graphite or both. Then, the illustrations are scanned and digitally colored and shaded, and lighting effects are added.
“In this day and age I think it’s important for artist’s to have a broad range of skills, ideally in both traditional and digital mediums. I’m constantly learning new things and experimenting, sometimes also failing, but the fact is it’s impossible to progress or learn anything new without failing,” said the artist, also encouraging budding artists not to give up and to try new things.
