The participants of Caravaggio Today – The Man Material Group project re-enacted the works of XVII century Italian artist Caravaggio in their workaday clothes in ordinary places. In this project, I try to digitally copy what Caravaggio had realized in a revolutionary way: To show an ordinary person in the limelight of art.
My artworks aim at a purely formal and senseless reproduction of the originals. They are bizarre pictures without any dramatic, religious or contemporary relevancy. The chosen genre results from the predominant youthfulness of the performers, who act in stereotyped places such as hospitals, schools, indoor swimming pools, etc.
