The South-Korean DIY Design website, Hobby:Design, has showcased an electricity-free bulb. This silicon moulded bulb looks just like a regular bulb, but it doesn’t need to be plugged in and never uses batteries.

The main materials used in making this light are silicon and luminous pigment. Its versatile fixture can be used in a wide array of environments, as doesn’t need electrical wires and the light source doesn’t heat up. The bulb can also be screwed into existing sockets.

The trick to using this bulb is to expose it to bright light during the day. Of course, the bulb yields its own problems, such as the fact that you can’t switch it off.
