The Swiss are known for their love of punctuality and order, and Swiss artist Ursus Wehrli does not disappoint. When it comes to art, he’s all about tidiness – which is what his project “Tidying Up Art” is all about. Wehrli tidies up famous artwork by artists like van Gogh, Picasso and Magritte.
Wehrli starts off by deconstructing the whole painting into smaller details – these can be lines, dots, brush strokes or shapes. Then he arranges all of these elements according to their features: the scattered chaos is often categorized by color or size size, or it’s brought to it’s primal state – as happened with Pollock’s work.
He said that this take on art was inspired by a hotel’s room service. Observing their day-to-day work of transforming messy rooms into neat and tidy chambers, he asked himself how van Gogh’s “Bedroom” might look after such a make-over. Check out his pics and be sure to watch the video of Ursus showing and talking about more of his works. You can also download a game App and give your organizational skills a test.
