A short list of the most disgusting existing creatures

# 6. Firefly Squid

Also known as sparkling enope squid(because it exhibits bio-luminescence). Each tentacle has a photophore which produces light. When flashed, lights attract delicious small fish. About 3 inches long, the squid usually dies after her first year. What is more curious about this sea weirdo is his ability to hide from predators. The combination of light-sensing and light-producing organs enable it to match its underside to the brightness and colour coming from the surface (counter-illumination), making it hard for predators from below to detect it. While we are talking about squids…

#5. Giant Squid

Seems like squids are not photogenic(surprisingly). These deep ocean dwelling creatures can grow to a tremendous size of 13 m. What is more, giants squids have sophisticated nervous system and complex brain, attracting great interest from scientists. It also has the largest eyes of any living animal.

#4. Dumbo Octopus

Living at extreme depth of 3,000 to 4,000 m. which is the deepest from any known octopus. Not only ugly, but extremely disgusting. It swallows its prey alive and whole. Grrr.

#3. Gulper Eel

This guy will bring me nightmares tonight. Whatever. Superficially similar to eels, but with many internal differences. Can be found in the deep ocean and is also bio luminescent. Charmingly, they lack several bones and ribs. Large jaws, small teeth (luckily!).

#2. King Crab

Native to the Bering Sea, it grows to a leg span of 1.8 m. One of the most preferred crabs for consumption(Anyway, am I the only one who would not eat this?)It was named after the color it turns when it is cooked rather than the color of a living animal.

#1. And the winner is… The Blobfish.

According to guardian’s investigation the ugliest animal ever existed is this sympathetic fish. Due to its low density flesh, the blob fish’s shape is very different when it is out of water(the reason of its ugliness). In September 2013 the blobfish was voted the “World’s Ugliest Animal”, based on photographs of decompressed specimens.
