You’re gonna be lovin’ it! This futuristic spaceship-like McDonald’s restaurant, based in Batumi, Georgia, has been widely acknowledged as “the most gorgeous eatery” and the “ultimate achievement in fast-food architecture”. Designed by Georgian firm Khmaladze Architects, the building is a combination of gas station, McDonald’s restaurant, indoor garden and landscaped pools. It seems that the architect’s goal to create an iconic urban node has succeeded.
“Part of the dining space offers views towards outside water features, while the rest of it seamlessly transitions into open air patio on the upper level. The patio, enclosed from all sides to protect the space from outside noise, provides calm open air seating. The vegetation layer, which covers the cantilevered giant canopy of the fuel station, adds natural environment and acts as a “ecological shield” for the terrace”,- says Giorgi Khmaladze. This is a great example, demonstrating how the perception of fast-food restaurants is changing.
