If you’re hoping to find the name of the beach with these beautifully-colored rocks, here’s a surprise for you – they’re actually all drawn with pencils and crayons! Italian artist Ester Roi, currently based in Southern California, has been drawing and painting rocks in water for several years already, sometimes adding some oil pastels to her works. Ester’s pieces are so realistic, that even the vibrant colors don’t raise much suspicion about these rainbow rocks actually existing in some exotic lands!
“I relish the contrast between a solid rock above the surface and its restless reflection below,” says Ester. She says she is detracted to combining two opposing realms, the solid and the fluid ones: “Water transforms everything it touches: hard lines become soft, warm colors cool, solid shapes break down into parts. Realism evolves into abstraction and the ordinary becomes extraordinary.” Check out her gorgeous drawings!
