Famous Shoes: Iconic Footwear

They say you can’t really know somebody until you walk a mile in their shoes. But it seems shoes alone might tell a lot about their owner. In Federico Mauro’s minimalist series “Famous Shoes”, footwear represents their famous owners, revealing how closely a personality can be linked to a single shoe. The artist shows the transparent and quick connection that we make as soon as we see any footwear that has already made history.

It’s very simple, we see the shoe and in a blink of an eye we know which iconic people or fictional characters have worn it. Let’s be honest here, if we see a man wearing black and white classic loafers, we just know he’s a mobster because Al Capone wore them and he was a mobster big time.

In the “Famous Shoes” gallery you can find anything from the already mentioned Al Capone’s loafers to Kurt Cobain’s signature black Converse to Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolo Blahnik blue pumps.

See for yourself how many personalities you will recognize from their shoes!
