It might seem like the acid is kicking in hard and fast, but make no mistake – the image above is, indeed, a Russian man riding an electric robot ostrich on to a televised talk show. Really.
The robot ostrich itself was built by four robotics enthusiasts in Russia on a budget equivalent to about 1500 USD. Calling itself “Konstantin Ivanov”, the group claims their robot is only the world’s second “full step” bi-pedal robot after Honda’s ASIMO, which is interesting, if true. The video also shows off Konstantin Ivanov’s crane-like rickshaw robot (also made of wood) and reveals the group’s plans to build a 35 mph robotic horse to, presumably, go horse-racing with. I mean, it’s Russia, so who knows, you know?
