Australian artist Loui Jover believes that images emerge from words, and creates affecting art pieces on the pages of vintage books. Loui uses pen and ink to construct dramatic and impressionable artworks. A combination of the images he creates and the verbose canvas turns into powerful pen-drawn stories.
It seems that Loui has the ability to drip ink into just the right places to gain a vivid dramatic flavor and to create a strong emotional scene. Nonetheless, a background full of words and text generates a certain aura to the whole artwork. As Jover says it offers “a strange fusion and depth that seems to give the images a kind of ‘meaning’ and back story, even though unconnected in a contrived way.”
The artist has been drawing since he was a kid and has never stopped. Instead, he draws almost obsessively every day, filling books with his doodles, drawings and ideas.
